Bella Coola Street Ride

Four Yamaha FJR 1300s, one KTM Adventurer S, and one Honda XX Blackbird with riders left Spokane in mid July for a 5 day trip to a small fishing village
in British Columbia called Bella Coola.  Our plan was to find back country motorcyle friendly roads in four days of riding and then relax on the Inland Passage
ferry from Bella Coola to Port Hardy, Vancouver Island.  We did just that and had a marveleous time - 1730 miles door to door.

Ready to leave in the early morning

Clearwater Ride 08

Having missed going to the Clearwater last year because of a big storm, everyone was ready to go on October 2 this year.  When we got to Noe campground it looked like rain and so it did - off and on through the night.  The next morning we got ready in the "mist" (from the river) and took off to have a great day - patches of sun - no rain - and tacky trails.  We had great fun and would have ridden the second day but the next morning it was raining again so we returned home.  Everyone said it was worth the trip just for Friday's ride - here are some pictures to prove it:

Building a Reblica Cobra

This is not a two wheeled ride but a ride never the less. Our son Todd wanted to build a replica Cobra so he purchased all the parts and then came to me and said, "Dad, would you build me a Cobra?"  How could I refuse.   Some 375 work hours later we had a rolling chassis powered by aluminum block/heads 351 Windsor V8 motor bored and stroked to 427 cu.in. and dynoded at 650 hp. The fiber glass body was painted in California and then married to the chassis along with leather upholstery and carpeting.  Maybe one of these days you will be passed by a metalic forest green Cobra that is just flying.  Here are a few pictures of the process:

Canadian Rockies Street Ride

July 23-26 Stan Seehorn, Travis Campbell, and myself rode 1450 miles through some of the most scenic roads in North America.  It was cool and nice most of the time with only a bit of rain.  We also enjoyed some of the finest motorcycle roads I have ever seen in British Columbia - no traffic and perfect sweepers.  Here are some pictures:

Four Corners Ride

For those with some interest in long distance street riding, I just completed a four corners of the US ride - door to door = 10,649 miles in 22 days - corner 1 to corner 4 = just under 7,000 miles in 14 days.  Some might question my sanity in doing this, especially in late October.  I ran in sub freezing weather, was snowed on, rained on, blown on and even went through a sand storm.  Actually, I had a good time, met a lot of interesting people, and survived it all.  My general itinerary was Spokane east to Menawaska, Maine (#1) - then south to Key West, Florida (#2) - then west to San Ysidro, California (#3) - then north to Blaine, Washington (#4) - and finally east to Spokane.  For more specific information contact me at phwinslow@juno.com.

Moab 2009

The Moab 09 ride is in the books and everyone had a good time (so they told me).  Sixteen riders this year and we rode two new places - the Souverign Trail system and the Behind the Reef trail.  On the last day we went to the Top of the World (overlook) and then through Onion Creek canyon.  Beautiful sunny days - 65 degrees or so (one morning it was 17 degrees getting to the trail head) - nobody got lost or broke anything (thank the Lord).  Here are a few representative pictures:

Calgary Stampede Ride

This year's annual street ride took more preparation than usual as we had to buy our tickets for the Calgary Stampede in October, 2007.  Four riders (out of eight who wanted to go) actually showed at the Winslow house in Spokane to leave for western Montana on July 5th.  We had quite a ride through Montana, Glacier National Park, and then into Canada to Calgary.  The Stampede was awesome (if you ever get a chance to go - take it).  After one day in Calgary we went west to Bamff and Lake Louise, then on to Revelstoke, BC.  The next day we traveled south through the spectacular "Lake District" of British Columbia and then on home to Spokane.  1400 miles total and one rider rated the whole ride a 10 out of 10.  Here are some pictures that will give you some idea.

Mt Saint Helens Ride

Our sons and grandsons were racing in the WORCs series at Sinabar 8/11/06 so we all decided to do a day ride in the Mt. St. Helens area - great scenery, great trails, beautiful weather.

2008 Moab Ride

24 riders descended on Green River, UT March 27 for our annual Moab area ride.  At 9:00am Friday morning after the riders' meeting, a quick visit to the Clinic for antibiotics (for me), and a chain repair, we all took off for the day's ride at the North Slope Trail area which includes the Devil's Race Track.  Everybody had a great time except for 5 riders who blew by the turn-off from Cane Wash (it was on the MAP) and went 10 miles in the wrong direction.  Eventually, the lost were found and all had smiles again.  The next day it was off to Pritchett Canyon - Kane Creek loop.  I was too sick to ride so good man Travis was the trail boss (he did say it was a little like herding CATS) but everyone seemed to enjoy the ride even though it was tough in spots.  From there we went to Slick Rock for a twilight ride on the fameous white painted 12 mile trail and then to our favorite Mexican Restaurant in Moab and finally the hot tub at our motel.  Some of the guys left on Sunday morning instead of riding (three had their families with travel trailers, one fellow's dad was in the hospital, I was still sick - a bummer).  The rest rode at White Wash and they discovered a "secret trail" shown them by some locals and so had a great time.  Every one made it home OK and thus ended another Moab Adventure.
